When he saw the Nielsen ratings

The planner shook his head,

And in the same slot next week

A whodunit played instead.

 

And from “I Threw Myself Upward”

 

I threw myself upward

And clutched the empty air

With hands that suddenly felt

As cold as water in a stream

That only runs in winter.
